NoCo Field Strips... the adventure begins.
Hey there, I'm Megan, McKay's mom. It's been such a joy to see McKay achieve continuous success with NoCo Field Strips. We've teamed up to explore taking the business beyond the farmer's market, and let me tell you, McKay's big goals for NoCo Field Strips are seriously cool! As a mom, I'm all in for this journey. You know, when you have teens/tweens, any chance to spend more time with them is gold, and building a business together has been pretty darn fun (well, most of the time!).
I'll be honest, I'm no business expert or entrepreneur. Sometimes I feel a bit guilty about that, as I try to support McKay in navigating the ins and outs of running a business. But, we're doing just fine with the help of some amazing people.
Making homemade snacks started when McKay was little, dealing with a lot of food allergies and some puzzling health issues. I had to quickly learn the ropes of grain-free, dairy-free cooking and baking to keep her well-fed and happy. Before becoming a mom, I was no culinary whiz since my priorities and bank account weren't exactly aligned with gourmet cooking. But McKay's dietary needs pushed me to get creative in the kitchen, and McKay joined right in on this culinary adventure. I can still picture her, first on a three-tiered step stool wielding a butter knife, then on a folding step stool confidently chopping with a paring knife, and now, feet firmly planted on the ground, skillfully using a chef's knife.
Seeing McKay take the recipes I came up with years ago, adding her own twist, and then launching a thriving business is something I never imagined, and I couldn't be prouder. Although McKay has outgrown many of her allergies, we're committed to crafting plant-based, gluten-free, and dairy-free snacks.
