The Low Down on Field Strips
Do you like snacks? I do. Does it bug you that your parents always want you to eat healthy snacks? It bugs me. I have a plan. Field strips are healthy snacks that taste good! I promise! They’re fruit, veggies and coconut oil.
How We Became a Business
When I was young, I had some food allergies and health problems. My mom started making fruit strips with veggies and coconut oil as an alternative to the all fruit versions she used to buy at the store. I loved them. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve started helping a lot with cooking and baking. During COVID lockdown, I decided it would be neat to start a business and share one of my favorite snacks with other kids. So, with some help from my mom and a couple friends, I started Field Strips!

ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m McKay. I’m a middle schooler at Compass Community Collaborative School in Fort Collins, Colorado. I love skiing. I leaned to ski when I was 1. The other sports that I participate in are softball and mountain biking. By selling Fields Strips at the farmers market in Fort Collins last summer, I saved up enough money to buy the mountain bike of my dreams (thanks, Trailcraft crew!). I also love to travel. I’ve been to 46 states (plus Washington D.C.) and 5 countries and 60 National Park Service sites. Oh, and I have an adorable dog named Luna. Luna is a giant Schnauzer mixed with a Standard Poodle. That makes her a Giant Schnoodle and a giant goofball. This summer, you can find my friends and me selling Field Strip at the Larimer County Famers Market. Hope to see you there.
One last note, while I love Field Strips, I promise not to eat all our product. That being said, I am an integral part of our research and development team (in other words, a taste-tester), and by integral part, I mean I AM our research and development team. I’m also our product maker, our packager, our marketer, and our salesperson. Sometimes, I get tired.
